Era 122 of xx Network MainNet has started 44 minutes ago.
XXV’s cMix ID was transferred to XXV3 (although I can’t set its on-chain ID to that just yet).
XXV2 which had no Team Multiplier has been online since era 121, with the help of some coins from XXV’s wallet.
If you’re not familiar with these technicalities, see this post.
In the election for era 122 (that took place during ere 121) I only nominated two validators, XXV2 (which I first nominated from that wallet in era 121) and XXV3 (old XXV).
I was curious how smart Phragmen will be.
To make this task easier for Phragmen, I set the same commission on both XXV2 and XXV3 (18% on each). But XXV2 had a 33K validator stake, while XXV3 had just 3.9K xx.
I expected that given certain stakes from other nominators, Phragmen would split my nominator amount (325K) to maximize returns.
But I didn’t think it would be smart about it. In fact I was concerned that it may not split it at all.
So, what happened? Phragmen was smart, but not extremely smart.
| Node | Validator | Comm | 3rd Party Nom | XXXV’s Nom |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| XXV2 | 33,000 | 18% | 43,000 | 238,000 |
| XXV3 | 3,900 | 18% | - (TM) | 89,000 |
There was no need to put anything on XXV3 since there were no other 3rd party nominations and the node has a Team Multiplier.
But Phragmen doesn’t know these nodes are mine, so it didn’t do the right thing (which would have been to put all 325K on XXV2).
Currently it’s impossible to do anything about this, but it’s not as bad as I expected. So far, at least. We’ll see tomorrow when new nominators almost certainly descend onto XXV3.
I could decrease XXV3’s commission to 15% to push Phragmen to decrease its stake on XXV3, but that would invite more nominators so it wouldn’t necessarily help me earn more. I’ll see how others set their commissions.
